I've Moved Blogs!

Hey guys! Just popping in to say that I just made a brand new blog and I won't be posting here anymore.
I'm trying to make a professional career out of my art, which calls for a more professional blog.

I encourage you to follow me at my new blog, Take Art to Heart .

It's brand new so there isn't a huge amount of content there currently, but it will soon be chock-full of photos of my art, pieces of my life, and things that inspire me and what I do.

Come follow me!

EDIT: the link for my new blog is now fixed, I just realized that I changed my new URL after posting this, oops! :)

Hello Strangers

Wow, It's been such a long time since I've last posted. So much stuff has happened in the past couple months and I just haven't had as much time to blog as I'd like.
I've been really trying to focus my time on my art and growing as an artist. I plan on creating a more professional blog soon that I'd like to religiously post in.

Speaking of art, about a month or so ago a local stationary shop held a holiday card contest which I won! I drew a landmark in the town I live in of a restaurant called The Golden Lamb. Many presidents have visited it and it's also Ohio's oldest Inn. I had to obtain the rights from the Golden Lamb to use their sign in my drawing, and upon them seeing it they decided to place an order for 250 of my cards! This is the first contest I've entered and I would have never imagined that all of this goodness could come out of it. It makes me really proud.
Here is the art:

Aside from that, I'm working on illustrating a children's book in which my Fiance wrote. It's such an adorable story and I can't wait to share.
A couple days ago I also started on a new just-for-fun piece which is a portrait of my two cats, Jackson and Shriek. I've been having so much fun with it and I plan on creating many more animal portraits. Here's my progress so far:
This portrait suits their personalities so well, it makes me smile every time I look at it.
I'll explain the reasoning behind the portrait more in-depth after I'm finished with it.

I'm not sure if I even have an readers anymore (eek) but for anyone who is reading this, I hope all is well with you, and if you live along the east coast I hope you're staying safe  ♥

xo- Kayla :)

P.S- If you're interested, I'm still open for commissions and I have a new email address for my art which is

The $100 Startup - Thank You

I received a special gift in the mail today. I'm not sure who it's from but I want to say thank you ♥ I loved The Art of Non-Conformity by Guillebeau and I've had my eye on this book. I can't wait to get started on it. Again, thank you so much... you made my day ♥

Currently Loving

I've never been to Nova Scotia but there is a special place in my heart for it. I've found myself admiring pictures and daydreaming of living there a lot lately. Visiting there is definitely on my bucket list. I would love to go whale watching!

I love this coffee mug from Fine Little Day

I found a new artist/shop named Cat Rabbit and I instantly fell completely in love with her dolls.
This one is my favorite.
Here is her shop and her website.

I'm loving this honey themed baby shower so much.
I want to host a baby shower and use this for inspiration.

I really love this necklace.

These photographs of ants eating colored liquid sugar is super neat.

This chromatic typewriter is one of the coolest things I've seen... I want one!

Enjoy your weekend!
